Gusto ko sana ma-test muna using a multi-tester or whatever gadget or test equipment needed to test the transformers. Mahirap namang i-test directly sa setup ni doc Randy or doc Orca.

You can always test for continuity, using a multi-tester. May mark naman which pins are connected together, thus all you need to check is kung pareho (resistance) reading nila.

Boy, this thread is like going over my head in techs! But thanks guys, i'm learning :hai:

I always thought SUTs are only for MC carts going into MM inputs; but as i read on, SUTs are ALSO suitable for MC carts going into MC inputs :o for much better matching (especially for phonostages with fixed loadings).

Was this the reason why some WS guys still use SUTs even if their PSs have MC inputs & variable loadings?

Nice topic.

Maybe because in an active head amp, it loads before it amplifies whereas in SUT, it amplifies before it loads. The former is not as immune to noise as the latter since the original signal (from the cart) signal is very very small.
